    KALAPRADARSHINI TRUST PRESENTED ‘SAMARPANAM’ TO LEGEND SINGER LATE ‘PADMASRI’ GHANTASALA VENKATESWARA RAO

     

    The KALAPRADARSHINI TRUST presented ‘SAMARPANAM’, A Tribute to  legend of legends Gaana Gandharva ‘Padmasri Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao through different Dance Forms like Bharathanatyam, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Mohiniyaattam, Kathak, Kathakali for his songs by the Masters in their field.

    The ‘SAMARPANAM’ was held on Friday, the 20th April 2012 at Narada Gana Sabha(Sadguru Gnanananda Hall, TTK Road, Chennai-18 at 6.30 p.m.

     

    Dr. K. Rosaiah, His Excellency The Governor of Tamil Nadu has attended as a Chief Guest and honoured the artistes who performed the dance.

     

    Justice Smt. Manjula Chellur, Hon’ble Chief Justice, High Court of Kerala, Kalaimamani Kumari Sachu, Veteran actress & Member Secretary-Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Manram, and Gana Kokila Dr. P. Susheela, singer were graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.

     

    Kumari Nandita Ramesh welcomed the gathering.

     

    Firstly, ‘SAMARPANAM’- Pushpanjali by all the performers followed by

     

    Bharathanatyam by Smt. Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala for the song ‘Sivasankari’ from the film ‘Jagadekaveeruni kadha’, music composed by Pendyala Nageswara Rao, Odissi by Ms. Sangeeta Dash for the song ‘Jaya jaya deva hare from the film ‘Sathi Anasuya, composed by Ghantasala, Kuchipudi by Ms Deepika Reddy for the song ‘Jayagana Naayaka from the film ‘Nartanasala’, music composed by Susarla Dakshinamurthy, Mohiniyaattam by Ms Gopika Varma for Jayadeva Ashtapadhi Dheerasammeere, music composed by Ghantasala,Kathak by Ms Mangala Bhatt for the song ‘Raave Naa cheliya’ from the film ‘Manchi Manasuku Manchi Rojulu’, music composed by Ghantasala, Kathakali by Mr Hari Padman for the song ‘Dinakara Subhakara’ from the film ‘Vinayaka Chavithi’, music composed by Ghantasala and Folk dance by the students of Kalapradarshini for the song ‘Ubdile Manch Kalam Mundu munduna’ from the film “Ramudu Bheemudu’, music composed by Pendyala Nageswara Rao.

     

     Chief Guest Dr. K. Rosaiah honoured with shawl and momento by Shri Ghantasala Ravi, son of Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao. Smt. Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala honoured the Guests of honour Justice Smt. Manjula Chellur, Smt. P. Susheela and Kum. Sachu with shawl & momento.

    Governor Dr. K. Rosaiah gaari speech:

     

         “India is a confluence of cultures with rich art and tradition. Music is divine. It is the rhythm of life. Gaana Gandharva  Padmasri Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao  the legend of legends is known for his golden voice. His melodious voice made the listeners spell bound and it captivated every one.

     

         The speciality of him is that he brought out the feelings of the character and added a historic dimension to the character itself. He was a doyen in the music world who had sung more than 20,000 songs. His songs were not only familiar in those days, we also see the youth today singing those melodies of Ghantasala.

     

          It is befitting that ‘SAMARPANAM’, A Confluence of Classical dance forms has been performed here in honour and memory of Padmasri Ghantasala.

     

         India is a home to many religions with diverse cultures. People speaking different languages living together. It is a symbol of peace. It is the art, the dance and music which crosses all barriers and has been a uniting one, a binding thread of diverse people.

     

         ‘Samarpanam’  a confluence of Dances bears testimony for our national unity. Bharathanatyam, Odissi, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyaattam, Kathak and Kathakali, even though had their origin from different states have spread across our country and the globe.

     

         It is this art and cultural exchange that had transcended all barriers.

     

        I congratulate all the artistes for their scintillating performance and for bringing in live the memories of great legend Ghantasala. The initiatives taken Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala, Thiru Ghantasala Ratna Kumar and Ghantasala’s family members in organizing this memorable function deserves appreciation.”

     

     

    Dances performed by artistes well appreciated by the music and dance lovers. Master of Ceremonies by Ghatasala Ratna Kumar. Smt. Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala, Managing Trustee-‘Kalapradarshini’ has proposed vote of thanks.

     

     

    The Classical dance continued by the the students of Kala Pradarshini and other Gurus.
